(Back to Bottom of the Barrel)

Nancy Krebs a woman who claimed to have been raped by John Ramsey[1] and Fleet White as well as Fleet White's elderly father.[2] She claimed that John Ramsey had visited her in California when she was a young girl, chained her up, and sodomized her. She also claimed that John Ramsey had filmed these encounters and made money off it that the Whites had held parties with large groups of pedophiles. Krebs also claimed that her own mother was present at the Whites' Christmas party on the night of JonBenet's death.

Krebs' allegations were thoroughly investigated and determined to be false. Police discovered that Krebs was the subject of a missing-person report from California and had claimed to be a witness in at least two other homicide investigations.

Support from District Attorney Alex Hunter[edit | edit source]

Krebs's story was broken to the media in Boulder Daily Camera interview with then-District Attorney Alex Hunter.

Hunter stated that Krebs' story was "very believable" and referred to it as a "breakthrough in the case". Though he mentioned Fleet White by name, Hunter neglected to mention John Ramsey's role in the story. Prior to Hunter's public statements of support for Nancy Krebs, Fleet White had been an outspoken critic of Alex Hunter and had been campaigning for his removal from the District Attorney's office.

Police Investigation of Krebs' Claims[edit | edit source]

According to police:

Boulder Police spent about 11 weeks investigating the allegations, which included conducting 22 interviews, reviewing medical and psychological records, reviewing photographs and recordings, consulting with a forensic psychiatrist, and comparing the allegations against physical evidence and current knowledge of the case. As a result, Boulder Police and prosecutors working on the case have concluded that other than the woman's statements, there is no evidence to support this theory of JonBenet's murder.[3]

Detective Steve Thomas, who had resigned from the case at that point, said it was "unbelievable that Alex Hunter leaked/smeared Fleet White and his family with this story that has no grounds whatsoever."

Prosecutor Mike Kane, who was working for Hunter's office, reportedly called Hunter's secretary, confused as to why Hunter had gone publicly with the claims, despite knowing that Krebs was a "goofball".

Fleet White commented on the Krebs fiasco in a 2014 radio interview. "Clearly the only reason that the Boulder Daily Camera printed the story is because Alex Hunter had endorsed her credibility, and that was certainly borne out later in our conversations with [Daily Camera reporters]".[4]

Later in 2000, the Whites brought an action in district court to release all of the investigative records from the Krebs investigation. The court released the transcripts of Krebs' police interviews, but no other investigative files.

Renewed Popularity[edit | edit source]

Krebs' claims have continued to resurface periodically on the internet in posts by online conspiracy-theorists. Several online "psychics" have repeated claims of pedophile rings and sex-parties. Some internet posters have promoted excerpts from Hunter's comments about Krebs as though they are "new leads".

[5][6][7]

The internet went wild with all these lies, White said. The Whites went to district court again in 2014 to release all the investigative files, the Boulder Police Department and the District Attorney opposed the release of those records.
