The bowl of pineapple on the table

A bowl of pineapple was found on the Ramseys' dining room table. None of the Ramseys admitted putting it there. The pineapple in the bowl was determined to be "consistent down to the rind" with pineapple in Jonbenet's digestive system which was known to be the last thing she ate.

The pineapple has been viewed as a significant piece of evidence because it contradicts the Ramseys' story about carrying Jonbenet asleep from the car and putting her straight to bed on the night of her death. To have consumed pineapple from that bowl after her dinner, JonBenet must have been awake at some point after she got home.

Some have suggested an intruder fed pineapple to JonBenet. Some believe a family member prepared the pineapple after returning from the White's party. Others believe the bowl was left out from an earlier meal.

In the Digestive System[edit | edit source]

Henry Lee "[the pineapple] is way after the meal."

Spitz: They had just been for dinner at the White's. [The autopsy] suggests that the meal had been ingested some time to allow digestion and evacuation from the stomach. Clemente: "So, she completely digested her dinner and after that she then ate this pineapple." Dr. Spitz: "Correct. That's correct. Chances are she ate a modest amount of food let's say, but she digested it, so your talking about hours.

JonBenet's Meals Prior to her Death[edit | edit source]

Breakfast - Christmas morning - pancakes and fruit

Dinner - at the Whites' house - crab, "enclosed sandwiches"

Last food eaten - pineapple consistent with pineapple on table

Pineapple and milk?[edit | edit source]

Some people, including John Ramsey, said it looked like there could be milk in the bowl as well as pineapple.

Detective Steve Thomas refers only to a "bowl of pineapple".
